Hygge Weekend

We hope you had a hygge weekend. Here’s what we got up to…

With the weather set for a wet and windy weekend, you could be forgiven for grabbing the calendar and counting down the days until Spring, but since getting the concept of hygge under our skin we’re approaching this sort of weather in a whole new light.

We kicked off with an invite to a Feast Night at Nancarrow Farm, Cornwall. Nancarrow is a one hundred acre organic farm that holds a feast each month and in a traditional barn setting on a winters eve, the night lived up to its reputation. Superb home cooked food from around the world, free flowing wine, accompanied by fiddles and served on fifty foot long trestle tables for communal dining, taste buds were teased & strangers become new friends.

I wake up every morning at 6:41am, in anticipation of the 6:45 alarm and weekends are no different. Slightly feeling the effects of the night before, it was a real treat to lie in bed reading for another three hours. The peripherals of Hurricane Abigail whipped around the garden bringing down an Elder tree, but thanks to a great friend Justin, armed with chainsaw, the casualty quickly became fire wood for our winter fires and we will be thankful for the warmth, light and hygge she provides.

The rest of the weekend ensued with the first flurries of Christmas shopping, three (!) birthday parties to attend, home making and a Sunday Roast at our local pub, perfect for hygge, The Plume of Feathers in Mitchell where we discussed our plans… all to be revealed soon!

And now I’m signing off, with the comfort of Sunday night TV, all family members chez nous and a contented heart and a hearty head, ready for the week ahead.
